Oh, my God, I just finished reading this book and I can't believe the feelings it evoked in me. I *had* to keep reading; the characters haunted me all day and all night. My poor Greek relatives are going to have a fit when they find out I'm in love with a Turk--and a fictional one at that! Win is everything you look for in a hero: brooding, yet charming, devoted to his country and his faith, but loyal to the heroine despite the obstacles to their ever being together. Hope is the perfect heroine for him: not some milk and water miss who needs to be rescued time and again, she's his match in courage, integrity, and passion. Set against the backdrop of early 20th century Turkey, this story is filled with intrigue, humor and love. If you haven't checked this one out yet, what are you waiting for? Good book! Couldn't put it down.
Reading the book you fall in love like Hope does with half-English / half-Turkish Win. Travelling through Turkey to the East where her father is building a new railwayline. The story is full of adventure, a murder mystery, international politics and a very well constructed lovestory.
A very good novel!
